I named this blog, The Sprouted Mind, because like a tender plant sprout, my mind has just begun to grow with newly acquired yet ancient yogic philosophy and Ayurveda knowledge. The function of this blog is to offer space to document my yoga and Ayurvedic journey. It is my hope to share recommendations to others transitioning into this lifestyle through books, recipes, self-care, meditation, and musings.

In May 2018, I completed a 200 hour yoga teacher training with Tula School of Yoga through Seva Yoga Studios in Fort Smith, Arkansas. I enrolled in the training for personal development. After the completion of my PhD in Education in 2017, I felt a void because I was no longer a student. I missed the student-teacher dynamic and the feeling of success in learning something challenging. I noticed my perception of my professional life improved when I regularly attended yoga classes, and I observed myself showing more empathy to my students and colleagues.

The yoga teacher training experience taught me much about myself and the yogi lifestyle. As a book lover, I enjoyed the assigned readings and discussions from our various required texts during teacher training so much I started to search to see what other yoga schools required as reading and bought those books too. What I found has led me to create this blog because a local book club of this sub-genre does not exist in my area. Although there are challenges to a digital medium, I am excited to use this blog as a way to share and gain knowledge.
